Thank you for your interest in the Hermes and Pay it Forward (PIF) Scholarships at the Grey School. These scholarships are directed toward helping youth (PIF) and adult (Hermes) students in their wizardly studies who may not otherwise be able to fund their magickal education.

This is accomplished through donations from benefactors at Grey School who, in effect, pay the tuition of that student for a period of one calendar year. When this period expires, the recipient is encouraged to take advantage of our multiple, low-cost payment options. The recipient may reapply for a new scholarship if needed, but the award of such is not guaranteed.

The number of students awarded with scholarships is dependent on the available funds at the time of application as well as the number of suitable applicants. It is important to note that the continuation of this scholarship is provided with the assumption that the student will remain active within Grey School.

To be considered for either of these scholarships, you MUST create an account by following this link and the account information must match the information provided on the scholarship application.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS

If you are a returning student (Level 2 or higher), please ask your House or Lodge Head and at least one professor from whom you have taken classes to submit a letter of recommendation describing your level of activity and academic merit for consideration of this scholarship.

These letters are to be sent directly from the Head and Professor to the Scholarship Committee Chair at scholarships@greyschool.com. It is understood that, upon submission, you have waived the right to review this letter. If you are a new student, however, no such letter is required.

Here are a few helpful suggestions to make sure your application has a good chance of being noticed and remembered:

  • When answering questions on the application, don't just use one sentence to answer a question; write a paragraph to fully answer each question. One well written paragraph will be remembered, but just a few words won't be.
  • Make sure everything on your application is spelled correctly and you have used proper grammar. Use Spellcheck. You may not notice the errors, but we will.
  • You must fill out the application in English. This is extremely important as all of our classes are written in English and we must know that you have a good grasp of the language by seeing it on your application.
  • A small bit of humor can sometimes be appreciated. However, sarcasm rarely has a place in an application and only serious applications will be considered. If you are applying just to get something for free or just to see if we are a real school, I assure you that we are a real school with real classes. Please research the Grey School carefully before re-submitting your application.

Once the committee has made a determination regarding your application, you will receive an email letting you know whether your application has been approved or declined. If your application has been approved, you will receive further instructions that must be followed to activate your scholarship.
